Your inspector will tell you that the purpose of the home inspection is to investigate conditions that may rightly affect the decision to buy. Health and safety issues top the list — no buyer wants to unknowingly move their family into a death trap or a money pit. Too often, however, the inspection becomes confused with an opportunity to pursue perfection. I'm here to tell you that no home will ever be perfect, not even new construction. Every home will have its to-do list, you just have to choose which repairs are worth taking on, and which aren't.
